Reading Blue Coat School Boys-U13B vs  Claires Court School
On: Saturday, 01 Feb 2020
Venue: at Home

Result: Lost 1-3 (half time 0-2).

Goal Scorers: our goal was an unfortunate own goal by Claire’s Court.

Man of the Match: Daniel Perkins.

Honourable mentions: Patrick Wisener came off the bench to prove a real menace to the opposition, Ben Barnard made two excellent fingertip saves, Daniel Perkins’ magical footwork mesmerised the opposition, while Greg Pyne showed no fear by out-jumping his man and winning numerous aerial challenges.

The aggressive wind had a lot to answer for, following this morning’s 1-3 home defeat. Claire’s Court capitalised on some sloppy RBC defending for their first goal, while a quickly taken corner and a routine training ground move lead to the visitors’ second goal.

RBC scored within 45 seconds of the restart due to a very unfortunate defensive mix-up, with Claire’s Court’s goalkeeper absolutely hoofing the ball into his defender’s posterior, resulting in the ball rebounding straight into his own net. Cries of embarrassment and frustration (and probably pain, too!), could be heard all across the Holme Park playing fields as the ball crossed the line!

Blue Coat pushed for an equaliser but Claire’s Court had other ideas, and kept RBC at bay. The visitors put the result beyond any doubt in the final minute by capitalising on yet another poorly-defended corner, with the visiting captain firing home from close range.

A deserved win for Claire’s Court, and many valuable lessons learned for Blue Coat, which gives Señor Starr plenty of food for thought ahead of the next U13B training session on Tuesday afternoon.

Many thanks to Miss Chloe Zambon for providing the excellent photos from today’s game.
