POTM: Oscar C

Honourable mentions: Sam N, Leo DC, Josh G, Ajeet H

Report: The U14A's made easy work of what is usually a tough fixture for Y9 teams and we often come of worse. We benefitted from a run of illness through the oppositions core A team and more over from being shifted off the usual boggy pitch on the killer slope which allowed the RBCS style to be played.

Dominant from the start, the team were brave, consistently building from the back where both Oscar C and Ajeet H made fine debuts in unfamiliar roles. Oscar showed characteristic strength and his pace and ability on the ball allowed him to travel from deep in our defensive third up into the middle linking tightly with Sala and Will playing up top. Ajeet defensive work was strong but his passing was stand-out with great punched passes into midfield and a willingness to go back to the goalkeeper which repeatedly allowed us to open up an attack on the opposite flank,/

Consistent pressure paid off with a penally award half-way through the the first half, well slotted a a . $way by Harry B shortly followed by another from Dom E.

The half time team talk centred around the theme of maintaining momentum but more crucially, not conceding a goal. The team work ethic was terrific and as both teams tired Blue Coat always seemed to have the extra man coming into press and win the ball, constantly working the ball back up to the attacking third. Oratory's goalkeeper had a terrific game and to his credit didn't resort to long punts up the pitch, however the perpetual high press from the under v14s paid off with well won ball providing Harry B with a deserved second and the team's third goal. Other notable performances include Leo DC showing his Brazilian heritage with an outrageous sequence of keepie-ups to twist and turn through 3 players to arrive in the box and get a shot off and a relentless Sam N at centre forward who did not give his opposite number a moment of peace.

A very big step forward. Well done lads!
