St Alban’s 29 - 18 RBC
Scorers: Tries: Allnutt, Arnold Pen Brand x 2, Con Brand
MoM : Will Benjamin - first start in the front row, did excellently, carried well and made tackles. Quality performance.
After a mauling last year, the 1s were understandably apprehensive and gifting SAS a try within a minute didn’t help but some sensible rugby saw RBC playing in attacking areas and two Jack Brand penalties edged RBC into the lead. Stronger defence than the opening and an outstanding Charlie Allnutt try saw RBC 13-5 up.
Buoyed after the 1st half RBC again played some good rugby but a lack of possession and a couple of unfortunate injuries meant a lot of defence and a few tries were leaked despite being in the contest right up until the end where an solo Ollie Arnold effort was justly deserved for a improved team performance.
