Match Report: RBCS 7 – 14 Merchant Taylors
Tries -Henry Mguire-Payne
Cons - Sam Nieland
POTM - Sam Nieland
This will be the game the boys feel slipped through their fingers. From the very start, it was a battle, with everyone putting their bodies on the line and making crucial tackles. The team followed the game plan perfectly, carrying hard and retaining possession in the rucks. It felt like a transformed side compared to previous weeks.
Merchant Taylors had some slippery, fast players, and they managed to break through the defence to score the first try. However, this came against the run of play. RBCS responded strongly, with a great try as ran a flat line off the back of the scrum, and Henry Maguire-Payne powered through with a hard run to cross the line. A well-taken conversion brought the score to 7-7.
Unfortunately, a few key injuries disrupted the team's momentum, forcing players out of position. Despite this, the match remained a hard-fought contest with both sides battling back and forth. Merchant Taylors managed to score a second try, but RBCS continued to fight until the final whistle. The boys left everything on the pitch, delivering a performance they can be truly proud of.
This was a complete team effort, but the standout player was Captain Sam Nieland, who, as always, led from the front and gave everything for the team.
Though the result didn’t go RBCS's way, the team put in an outstanding performance. Well done to all involved!
