This was a very disappointing start to our defence of the Central Independent Schools' League. Abingdon were far sharper and more determined, deserving their early 2-0 lead. Though Abingdon didn't create many clear opportunities thereafter, BlueCoat failed to capitalise on any chances we created ourselves, with a 4v1 squandered and then several other chances spurned. A brighter second half led to more possession, but BlueCoat rarely troubled the Abingdon goalkeeper, with the opposition happy to see out a comfortable 2-0 win. A much improved performance is required on Wednesday when the boys travel to Torquay in the last 16 of the ESFA National Cup.
