U15A 2 - 2 Piggott School AET (County Cup Round 1)

Scorers - Harris, David

Won 5-4 on Penalties

Penalties - David, Harris, Gaines, Knowles & Melhuish

MoM - Christian Melhuish - set the tone in a highly combative, if not always pretty, performance and kept his nerve to score the winning penalty.

The U15s produced a memorable performance to knock last year’s county champions out of this year’s competition with a highly combative performance in dreadful weather conditions. Having stood off Piggott for the first 10 minutes and conceding a goal, the midfield started to make more physical contributions leading to Dan Harris levelling the scores from a well taken free kick. With Tom David casting fear into the Piggott defence it wasn’t long into the second half before he put the team ahead. Piggott then upped their game and scored late on which sent the game to injury time. Both sides had chances to win it, but Joe Smart made a terrific save in the dying moments to keep RBC in the match. In the penalty shootout all the RBC players maintained their composure to score whilst one unfortunate opponent dragged his penalty wide to allow the team to progress into the second round for the first time in four years.
