Match Report
Reading Blue Coat School 5th XI vs  Halliford School Boys-U18B
On: Wednesday, 12 Feb 2020
Venue: Away

Halliford 0 RBC 1

So after a stinging loss to LVS the boys were knowing that a big performance was required against Halliford's 2nd team. The week building up to the game saw several key players make themselves unavailable - hockey / play / running so we knew it was going to be a tough game.

Debuts were given to Felix, Max and Oscar and each played their part in the game. Felix set up the games only goal with a sublime 35 yard pass to Jonnie, who scored with precision with a clinical right foot finish just on the half time whistle.

Another new centre back combination of Ed and Nik saw the defence shored up. Headers were won and crunching tackles were made. Tom P led the team and was inspirational at left back. Rowan had a difficult first five minutes, but after that period was the proverbial wall at right back.

The centre of midfield was marshalling expertly by the man of the match Felix who won more tackles than i could count. Max and Rohan both played their role in the centre intercepting through balls and distributing effectively. regrettably we did not see Oscar's pace as he was forced out of the game early through injury. Anand played well on the left and provided a useful outlet.

Hallfiord had plenty of possession in the second half, and Blue Coat were under the pump. Kyle did exactly what he needed to in goal and was very assured. Marius had a couple of chances, that he described as being 'tough' unfortunately neither were taken.

Ben C won the penalty when he was man handled in the box in the second half, a great chance to make it two nil, but regrettably the penalty although on target, did not have the necessary venom to beat their goalie.

the first game back after half term is against Claires Court at home. it is a must win game for us. The 5ths currently sit 5th in a league of 8.
