Match Report
Reading Blue Coat School 1st XI vs  The Forest School, Winnersh
On: Wednesday, 05 Feb 2020
Venue: at Home

Blue Coat had to recover from the shock of going a goal down in the first minute but after that defensive lapse, to their credit, they recovered within a few minutes to equalise through Jamie Vickery, and then take the ascendency in the match with a fantastic right foot strike from the edge of the box by Will Tate.

Our profligacy was again apparent as we eschewed chance after chance, despite some great crosses from Jack Webb and set-pieces from Josh Harris. Line clearances, hitting the bar and shots poked wide meant the score stayed at 2-1 at half-time, instead of the unassailable lead we should have had.

This came back to bite us in the second half as we were hesitant in defence, continued to waste opportunities, and Forest played a much stronger part in the match. It resulted in an almost inevitable equaliser, and only a terrific save from Marcus Baines prevented us from falling behind.

Again to the team's credit, they never gave up on the win, and from a break Harry Wardle forced a header home from a cross with 10 minutes left. We might have sealed the result properly but Forest had the odd break too, and it ended with a 3-2 win for Blue Coat.
