Match Report
Reading Blue Coat School 1st XI vs  The John Lyon School
On: Wednesday, 08 Jan 2020
Venue: at Home

A very good effort from the whole squad as we fought to get ahead in the match and then got stronger and stronger in the second half. 3-0 was a reasonable return but it could have been more. MOM Cam Ireland.

After the dismal pre-Christmas effort that saw us depart from the County Cup, today was a much better all-round effort from everyone. Fifteen minutes in the score could have been 3-2 either way but as we felt our way into the game. For the next 20 minutes, we dominated and should have scored several times but at least came away at half-time with a sharp finish from Will Good.

We needed a second to clear the result and it came two-thirds fo the game with a terrific control and strike by Will Tate. His left foot finish was a real confidence booster and should lift future performances.

Not long after, Jack Webb scored a scorcher on his first 1st XI start, cutting in from the left and striking a superb right-foot shot over the keeper to make the game safe.

We could have scored again but I was more pleased with the organisation and adaptability of the side, reading the game well and responding to lots of changes in personnel and formations.

Although there were several candidates, Cam Ireland gets my MOM, playing in an unfamiliar role at left-back and adjusting well to any game changes.
