A bruising start to the season and pitches like concrete had taken their toll on the 15 Bs and we arrived at City of London Freemen’s with only 13 players all of whom were pleased to see some green on the pitch.

From the outset we dominated both in the pack and with ball in hand and it took 8 minutes to open the scoring with a searing run from Callum McNickle demonstrating that City of London were reluctant to tackle if we ran straight at them, something we capitalised on later in the match. City of London caught us napping two minutes later when they ran through the middle and we missed a number of tackles to let them score, however this galvanised us into action and we started to press our advantage at the breakdown to set up many different scoring opportunities.

Notable plays included Jaydn Sirju scoring as he collected an excellent kick into space from Ed Philpott. Zack Hawkes running from our own half, breaking many tackles and earning a penalty on their 5-metre line which Ed took quickly to touch down.

The second half has some phenomenal tackling from Jaydn and Jason Rowley but was predominantly the McNickle show, as Callum proceeded to score 4 tries, breaking many tackles to cross the line.

A well-deserved win and we look forward to Aylesbury Grammar next weekend.
