U15A Match Report

RBC 15A- 46 - 5 City of London Freemans

Tries- James Stewart (2), Tyler Chidwick (2), Jack Rushton, Christian Melhuish, Jake Gaines, Fin Mackay.

Cons- Joe Smart (2)

Man of the Match- Christian Melhuish- Ferocious in defence and attack and also chipped in with a try.

Against an opponent they had never beaten, and with numerous players missing through injury- it was potentially a game they could have just conceded at the start. However, they played outstanding rugby in the first half accumulating 26points in about 20minutes. The boys mixed rough and tumble rugby and then spread it wide with some expansive play cutting the CLF defence to ribbons. Defensively the line speed smothered CLF forcing many knock ons, turning over lots of ball at rucks and effective taking the wind out of the CLF sails.

The second half was a little more stop start and CLF clearly were told at half time to up their game and they came out and their two centres put some well worked moves together. We came back into it and scored two tries before the close.

Targets are game management and the defensive 'shuffle' this week as occasionally we got caught short out wide.

The boys should be extremely proud of themselves in turning around this fixture. Next week AGS... doesn't get any easier...
