Match Report
Reading Blue Coat School Boys-U14C vs  The Oratory School Boys-U14B
On: Tuesday, 12 Mar 2019
Venue: Away

RBCS 1: Oratory 3

MOTM: Alex Chen for some fine goal keeping.

Greatest encourager on the pitch: Josh Benton

A good contest with Oratory this afternoon. They were a swift and strong side, putting us under pressure from early on, but the back 4 (Hassan, Sirju, Benton and Stevenson) worked their socks off to cover, tackle and then set us back on the offensive.

On the left side, Ed Philpott had a super game, battling and always ensuring his opposite number was forced into playing hastily and making mistakes. Right side crosses from Jack Carter worked well too and there were times in the first half that we might have fired off a shot and pulled back the 2 goals we conceded. The second half, although playing against the slope, looked strong. Some lovely passing and running on to the ball was very promising and, following a foul outside the Oratory box, Josh Benton struck the ball hard and Will Grant managed to poach a goal from the ensuing scramble.

We allowed Oratory to use too much of the middle of the pitch, meaning that we never fully controlled the match, but despite a third goal against us in the dying minutes, we were able to feel very proud of the performance and hard fought but good spirited efforts.
Well done, boys!
