This match was closer than the score suggests, with only one try separating the teams for the whole of the second half.

I would like to thank the mighty Bs for their flexibility as we had to play between one to two players down to match the opposition's numbers, and so we had to manage a larger number of substitutes than expected. Fortunately we started strongly at full pace, scoring a couple of quick tries, before Tiffin got going. However, from then on it was a very competitively contested match with end to end play. The Tiffin forwards were very powerful: turning over rucks, driving the scrum and ripping the ball off any stranded player. This returned the score to near parity at 19-17 with both teams defending strongly with big tackles and held up tries.

The half time decision was to utilise our superior backs and for the forwards to avoid being caught in procession but to quickly offload to supporting players. This worked well for the first ten minutes of the second half, but with passion and commitment increasing the team started to attempt to run through Tiffin again, generally unsuccessfully. The mighty Bs fought gallantly, especially as the tempo and commitment increased further when their U14A team came over to noisily support the opposition. This was a full blooded match and I was proud of the mighty Bs effort and sportsmanship in a game that was contested very passionately!
