Venue: at Home

RBC U15C v Reading School U15B

Won 4 - 2

Man of the match: Matthew Donovan

A good initial 5 minutes of play by Blue Coat, helped by Oliver Bradley's presence, before we eased up slightly, again!. The match flowed rapidly from end to end in the first half, before Matt Donovan broke the deadlock and put the mighty Cs one ahead. Reading played, and broke, at pace and we spent too much time criticising each other instead of focusing on the opposition. This allowed Reading School to equalise before the end of the first half. Another half time talk was required to re-emphasise the importance of pressure on the ball, effort off the ball and not been caught in procession. Fortunately, we were more lively in the second half so goals followed from Matt Donovan (again), Connor Shiels and George Hadnett to give the mighty Cs a comfortable lead. With the mid-field more focused on scoring than defending, with the exception of Sam Groom, we did not track back sufficiently and Reading were able to score their second close to the end of the match.

When the mighty Cs are working hard and supporting each other then they are an excellent and skilful team. I would like to thank them for their dedication, especially given the lack of competitive matches, by continuing to train each Thursday after school. Also thanks to Mr Colville for help with coaching the team during Monday afternoon game sessions.
