Match Report
Reading Blue Coat School 1st XI vs  RBCS 'Old Blues'
On: Sunday, 24 Mar 2019
Venue: at Home

The school bested the Old Blues 3-0 in an entertaining Daniel's Cup match where the legs were the decider at the business end of the game.

The Old Blues quickly organised themselves into a good shape, even if they were not all in such good shape, and they were denied a goal by a combination of the sharp-eyed linesman and the referee! School had lots of possession without reward until Josh Harris was gifted a goal after a defensive mix-up.

In the second half, the Old Blues wished the slope had been much steeper. Both teams created chances, more so for the school but it took until after the hour for a quality strike from a shock source, as Michael Cullen make room and let fly from 25yds.

As the bodies tired on both sides in the heat, Jack McNeill made the result safe, a left-footed finish with only three minutes remaining.

Despite a few hefty challenges, the game was played with great spirit and humour, and we are all glad it is back on the calendar again.

The Old Blues were not too stiff to be taken on a tour of the school post-match. Many had not been back for a decade or more and there was so much for them to see and be amazed by.
