Honorable mentions:

This match will be in the thoughts of the boys for the next few weeks as it is a game they could have arguably won given the missed chances, basic handling errors and missed tackles. if they had played with the same intensity and passion as they did against RGS the this game would have been chalked off as win after 30 minutes. However, with the squad decimated by injury we took time to ease into the game and it put the wind in Shiplakes sail as they fought hard at every contest and put pressure on us on the gain line. Using their 12 and 13 well alongside a good kicking game- it put us in areas of the pitch we did not want to be and they scored two well worked tries. In the second half the boys led well by Jack Ruston, Tom David and James Stewart started to take control of the game and we took our opportunities well getting the game back to 19-19. However, we then drifted again in tempo and our game management wasn't at its best- putting a cross field kick straight into the arms of their best player who scored a try from it. The squad continued to fight and intermittently looked like winning the game but we just couldn't finish them off. The RBC squad also learnt a valuable lesson of if you cross the try line- just put the ball down! Best wishes to Harry Armstrong who was concussed in the game and will now follow return to play protocol. Onwards and upwards for the next game.
