Charters 2 -1 RBCS U15

Scorer: J Webb

The U15s were disappointingly dumped out of the County Cup by last year's beaten finalists. Uncharacteristic errors by the back four meant a slight sense of panic set in whenever Charters lumped the ball down the middle and uphill, into the wind we found ourselves 2-0 down in 15 minutes, despite having had several excellent opportunities ourselves.

Playing down hill in the second half, our fortunes soon changed as the Charters goalkeeper also made a costly mistake and cleared the ball to Jack to calmly slot home. With 25 minutes remaining it looked like RBCS could at least level as wave after wave of attack saw chances go begging with Joe-T Yates a virtual by-stander in our goal. Harry Wardle was again excellent as he drove the midfield forward and Sam Hodgson was a genuine threat down the right but Charters defence stood firm with their centre-back having a particularly impressive display.

Their coach paid tribute to the excellent effort, falling just short of saying the better team had lost...but he would have been right! There are many excuses we could use - missing players, poor pitch, interesting refereeing but the main issue was that we simply didn't take our chances. We have Forest in a 'friendly' in a couple of weeks to hopefully put right the wrongs of today.
