Match Report
Reading Blue Coat School Boys-U14C vs  Leighton Park School
On: Tuesday, 15 Jan 2019
Venue: Away

Result: Drew 0-0

Man of the Match: Harry Overton

As an unexpected, but very welcome addition to the 14Cs sporting calendar, we headed to Leighton Park determined to do our best and seize any opportunities that presented themselves. We certainly did work hard and some of the players covered a huge amount of ground, but today we lacked the ability to finish and, despite several chances in each half, including a penalty late in the second, the game finished goalless.

Special mentions should go to Josh Benton and Alex Chen, both of whom played in goal for a half, and to man of the match Harry Overton who, whilst occasionally demonstrating that the rugby season was still in his memory, played with enormous heart and was a stalwart in defence. Ed Philpott had a super game on the left of midfield, making runs and getting the ball into the centre, creating difficulties for the LP defenders.

For a first outing, this was a really encouraging performance. Each of the boys displayed enthusiasm and moments of great quality and awareness, working together and supporting one another. We can work on our movement off the ball and finishing - it would be a shame not to convert the skill and opportunities into goals!

Very well done and thank you, boys. Training will be on for all those not on the theatre trip this Thursday, on the astro at Berkshire Sports.
