Reading Blue Coat School Boys-U13A vs  English Schools Cup Final
On: Saturday, 24 Nov 2018
Venue: Away

Result: 8th position out of 27 schools.

After winning the county round, becoming runners-up in the regional finals, the combined year 7/8 team made the long trek to Woodbridge School in Suffolk to compete in the final of the Englsh Schools Cross Country Cup. A great achievement to be able to run against the top 27 schools in the country and to finish in 8th position is a splendid result.

Out of a field of 160 athletes, Tom Day was the 1st Blue Coat runner home in 24th, closely followed by Oscar Falkentoft in 29th. Sam Lindsey-Halls was 47th, Oji Adoh was 88th, Nicholas Haldane and Tom Ellington were 121st and 128th respectively. This placed the team just ahead of Millfield but a little way behind the winners from the Judd School in Kent. The course itself was exceptionally challenging with some very testing hills and massive credit to all our runners to complete the course with such success.

To compete in a national final in any sport is a great achievement and to be placed in the top 10 schools in the country is something to be very proud of. The boys trained very hard and their whole approach to the event was first class and very professional. They have done both themselves and the school an enormous amount of credit
