Reading Blue Coat School Boys-U14A vs  English Schools Cup Final
On: Saturday, 24 Nov 2018
Venue: Away

Result: 22nd out of 28 schools

So to another English Schools Cross Country Cup final, Blue Coat's 6th in the past 7 years. The race was held on an exceptionally challenging course at Woodbridge School in Suffolk and the team were up against the top 28 schools in the country. Hopes were high of a good finishing position so 22nd was not quite what we were expecting though still very good indeed in a national final.

Sam Hodgson was our 1st runner home in 46th position, Chris Parker was 63rd, Jack Webb was 93rd, Oliver Bryant was 95th, Callum Lochhead was 136th and Will Thompson was 142nd.

22nd overall was seen by the team as a little disappointing but the level of the competition was exceptionally high, as one would expect in such an event. Perhaps it is the high standards that we have set ourselves at Blue Coat with our cross country running consistently competing at this level. The boys however gave it everything and they were completely shattered at the finish. They have trained hard and can be very proud of their achievements representing themselves and the school with huge credit. With four year nine boys in the team and the junior team coming 8th in their final, the future for this competition looks very bright.
