Reading Blue Coat School Boys-U15A vs  Latymer Upper School
On: Saturday, 16 Mar 2019
Venue: Away

Latymer 0 - 5 RBC

Scorers Webb (2) Crook (2) Hawes

Celebrity mention; Jack Webb - an excellent performance having moved into a wider position on the right, beating players one on one, delivering telling crosses for assists and scoring two goals of his own.

The U15A carried on their winning streak with a convincing performance against Latymer on an outstanding football surface that suited our game to perfection. Matt Crook's promotion to the As paid instant dividends as he scored two, hit the bar and was a constant physical threat up front.

As early as the second minute, Jack and Matt Crook combined to see the ball hit the bar and the first half continued with RBC in ascendance. It did, however, take until the 14th minute for Jack to open the scoring with a shot from wide out, that was definitely a shot, not a cross(!) and then Matt C thumped a powerful shot past the Latymer goalkeeper two minutes later. RBC had complete control as chances were created with scintillating football seeing both full backs overlapping to provide extra assistance to the attack. Harry Wardle, Nick Sandhu, Felix Johnston and Dan Burgess controlled the middle of the park and within another two minutes Matt Crook had poked in his second and the game was as good as over as a contest.

The second half saw players taking an extra touch and the ball transference wasn't quite as effective as the first as a touch of complacency crept in but still RBC had control. Nick Sandhu hit the bar with a rasping effort before, late on, Jack and Sam Hawes put a more reflective look to the scoreline.

Matt Kirk and Harry Martin had excellent games in defence where Latymer's best player was all but nullified and it was pleasing to see Marcus Baines, who was largely unused, make a spectacular save to keep another clean sheet where maintaining concentration was his biggest challenge.

Another excellent performance as we move towards the biggest challenge of the season of Hampton, who have won 26 out of their 28 games, next Saturday.
