Reading Blue Coat School 1st XI vs  Lord Wandsworth College Boys-U18B
On: Wednesday, 21 Nov 2018
Venue: at Home

Thinking that this week’s opposition could be a step too far in relation to ability on the pitch, morale took a small dip. After a speech from club and team captain Dom Wright the boys were both mentally and physically prepared for the fight that awaited.

As the boys from Hampshire rolled onto the pitch the Blue Coat boys could feel the ground shake with Wandsworth’s fear. After what can only be described as a sound first half, Blue Coat rested hard aided by an energy boost from a Capri-Sun at half time.

Being 5-0 down you’d expect a demoralised workforce, however the boys were prepared
to fight for the badge and initiated their comeback. Swift movement down the
wing brought us into the D, and a superb pass to the penalty spot led to our
first goal from Harry Kirkwood. Following this revolutionary action there was a minor pitch invasion from the fans that had come over to support the boys in blue.

Only two minutes later Andrew Perkin scored on his debut to make the score 5-2. Once again the supporters stormed the pitch in joy and their were high fives all round. At this moment it looked like a miraculous comeback was possible.

RBCS fought hard and let in only one more goal which meant that we won the second half 2-1. Ultimately what we have proved on this fine day is that you should not stop until you’re proud of your performance. With the possibility of the score line going into double digits at one stage we continued to wear the badge with pride and didn’t stop until the final whistle blew.
