Match Report
Reading Blue Coat School Boys-U13B vs  Leighton Park School
On: Monday, 12 Nov 2018
Venue: tbc

Won 109-85

The swim team had a friendly gala against Leighton Park which proved great fun as lots of swimmers swam in lots of races and the U13 boys had their last practice before Saturday’s English School’s final.

It was a different set up for this event and we put our U12s in the U13s, U13s in the U15s and our GCSE swimmers competed against LP’s U18s. LP also had their girls swimming showing great parity.

Dominic Wynn-Williams got RBCS to a great start with a win in the U13 Boys backstroke with Daniel Steele a close second to give RBCS a maximum points haul in the first race to set the tone for the event.

Other race winners included:

Zach Majmajor - U13A Breaststroke, U15B Breaststroke, U13A Butterfly, U15B Freestyle (Ollie Matthews a great swim for a close 2nd)

Ashwyn Rupasinha - U13B Breaststroke where he JUST held off Bradley Read

Michael Stent - U15A breaststroke just edging out Lucas Dance on the touch in in another great race

Tom Bryce - U18B breaststroke in a great race with Mattie Roberts

Daniel Steele - U13 freestyle

Matt Allen - U13B freestyle just pipping Dayal Sidu

Ben Phillips - U18B freestyle

The relays proved equally successful with the U13s remaining unbeaten, despite swimming in the U15s category and the U12s showed that they are a rapidly developing squad with two wins against U13 opposition.

Whilst we had some fantastic swimming from our top string swimmers, we were also delighted to see our B swimmers, of whom virtually none are club swimmers, producing some excellent performances and massive improvements in PBs after committing to the swim team practices.

Celebrity mentions must go to Zach Majmajor for four wins (every time a space appeared he was in the pool like a shot!!), Ben Phillips swimming in the U18 category despite only being U13 and competing very favourably, the GCSE swimmers of Tom Bryce, Barney Thompson and Callum Perkins who bolstered the top end.

If any middle school or senior swimmers (girls and boys) are keen on representing the school, please see Mr Dance as we have more galas next term.
