RBCS U15A 14-5 Lord Wandsworth

Having only had 6 hours to prepare for this fixture we knew it would be enjoyable but a challenge. It turned out to be a physical, tense and forward dominated game and I’m happy that the squad edged over the line to victory especially having been 5-0 down at HT. We played well in phases but couldn’t get enough possession to really trouble Lord Wandsworth before the break.

That all changed in the second half when our backs fired into gear and Monty Heath finished off a well worked backs move showing some real speed on the expansive 1st team pitch. 7-5 in front we started to dominate and should have scored 2 tries in 10 minutes but a forward pass and a dropped ball over the try line meant the team had to be patient. After a powerful Harry Wardle run- space was created for Matt Crook who managed to split the defence to ground (just about!) with enough control to get more points on the board. Tom Dexter put his 2nd conversion between the posts to make it 14-5 and we then saw out the game with control.

MOM- Oli Deacon- titanic with ball in hand as well as in defence all day.
