Venue: Away

RBC U15C v Hampton School U15C

Lost 2 - 0

Man of the match: Tom Branch

Honourable mention: The whole team - for their second half reaction and performance after conceding two quick goals during the first half.

The mighty Cs started the match at a high tempo with some very elegant football, procession and movement up to the edge of Hampton School's goal area. The opposition always looked threatening on the break, testing Alex Richardson's, Harry Cook's, Issac Scourfield's and Richmond Abbey-Quaye's speed tracking back, but they were able to neutralise these attacks. The match was decided in a mad three minutes half way through the first half, when the mighty Cs did not organise themselves quickly enough to defend two excellent corners, both of which were headed into our goal. We then struggled to raise our game again for the remainder of the first half and Hampton dominated the mid-field putting our defence and keeper under constant pressure. Only Alex Richardson tested their keeper with a superb long range free kick.

The team showed their Blue Coat spirit again in the second half with more urgency, both on and off the ball, as well as tracking back to help the defence when needed. The mighty Cs pushed high up the pitch but, as in training, turning this hard work into goals alluded us. Matt Donovan came the closest to scoring in this period. With most of our players in the Hampton's half of the pitch they counter-attacked on a few occassions by playing long balls over our defence, that we had to chase back and carefully clear or rely on, man of the match, Tom Branch to win one-on-one contests! This is not something we want to rely on in our last game of the season against Reading School.
