Honourable mentions:

This was a bruising encounter against City of London Freeman, with Marcus Smith, Sam Jolly and Christian Scott taking knocks and having to leave the field. Captain Josh Smart had to take a breather after getting a stinger in the shoulder from tackling so hard. Tom Price, at scrum half, had to go off for concussion protocol but was cleared and safe to return.

Unfortunately this wasn't our game with opportunities wasted by poor execution in the slippery conditions. Credit to Freeman who were excellent in defence and managed to disrupt our game plan.

Josh Harris scored early on from our own try line, by Josh Smart stealing the ball from a maul and offloaded the ball for Josh Harris to run the length of the field, with plenty of support, to score under the posts. However we went quiet throughout the game and let CoLF dominate, scoring some easy tries. It was only the last ten minutes of the game where we began to show how good we can be by sustained pressure in the red zone, scores from Jack Williams and Rambo put us in reach of a win. But time ran out and we couldn't get the last score.

Rest up and return strong for Oratory in the second round of the Natwest Vase on Wednesday 26th September.
