Match Report
Reading Blue Coat School 1st XI vs  RGS, High Wycombe
On: Wednesday, 11 Dec 2019
Venue: Away

Our second away game in two weeks was only a short journey to RGS High Wycombe, thankfully the music was not supplied by Will Frood's awful 'selection', slighlty improved by Campbell's effort. There was little in the way of inspirational music. Would this cost us? (short answer: probably) When we arrived the oppo seemed to be training in a very intense manor and the Blue Coat boys sensed trouble ahead.

The first half started well with the 'Wimbledon football' approach with a long ball over the top and Blue Coat had the ball in the Wycombe half for a good two minutes. regrettably no goals could come of it, although Will Frood had an attempt on goal. He missed. Super sub Jack replaced Will upfront, but got little supply.

A couple of short corners for us resulted in no goals either. Joe J led from the front and had a fantastic game. Even Campbell's two monster drinks proved ineffective.

in the meantime the home team scored five unanswered goals, this was despite Joe S in goal pulling off some amazing saves. Blue Coat battled away, Henry Saxby even attempted a couple of hockey/rugby tackles, unsuccessfully.

Deacon and Perkin proved a threat upfront, but every time our superstars got the ball, they were surrounded by RGS players.

Despite the score line, Dirk, Charlie, Henry D and Ryan played pretty well in defence, but it was a fast paced game on a slippery surface that didn't help our style of play.

As Dirk suggested the score line reflected the absence of the sorely missed Akash.

Well done to captain Joe J and his merry men, it has been a fantastic term of hockey.
